The Help Center connector needs no Optiply account and no sign-in. It only reads the public articles on help.optiply.com. To ask about your own Optiply data, use the Optiply Agent connector instead: see Connect the Optiply Agent: MCP and Slack setup.

Purpose

Use this connector when you want an AI assistant to answer "how does this work in Optiply?" questions with the current Help Center text, for example while evaluating Optiply, preparing an integration or training a colleague.

Prerequisites

  • An AI assistant that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP. Optiply currently only officially supports Claude. Other assistants that support remote MCP servers without authentication should work.
  • Permission to add a custom connector in that assistant. On Claude Team or Enterprise, ask an organisation Owner or another person authorised to manage connectors to add it.
  • No Optiply account or login is needed.

Steps

Server URL: https://help.optiply.com/mcp

Claude on a Free, Pro or Max plan

  1. Open Claude on the web or desktop and go to Customize › Connectors.
  2. Choose + Add › Add custom connector.
  3. Enter Optiply Help Center and https://help.optiply.com/mcp, then continue through the setup prompts.
  4. Under Authentication, select No sign in. Leave request headers empty and finish with Add.

On the Free plan you can add one custom connector.

Claude on a Team or Enterprise plan

  1. An organisation Owner or another authorised connector manager opens Organization settings › Connectors › Add › Custom › Web.
  2. Enter Optiply Help Center and https://help.optiply.com/mcp, continue through the prompts, choose No sign in, leave request headers empty and finish with Add.
  3. Each colleague then finds Optiply Help Center under Customize › Connectors and enables it. In a conversation, use + › Connectors to turn it on.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user optiply-docs https://help.optiply.com/mcp

The Optiply Claude plugin

If your Optiply plugin already lists optiply-docs with the Help Center URL above, use that connection instead of adding a duplicate.

Other AI assistants

Add a remote MCP server with the URL https://help.optiply.com/mcp, transport HTTP (Streamable HTTP) and no authentication. Follow your assistant's own configuration instructions; JSON keys differ between clients. For clients that support this format, the entry looks like this:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "optiply-docs": { "type": "http", "url": "https://help.optiply.com/mcp" }
  }
}

Use it

Ask a question about Optiply, for example "How does Optiply handle a minimum order quantity?". The assistant searches the Help Center, reads the matching article and should cite its help.optiply.com link.

Fields and columns

The connector gives your assistant two tools:

  • Search the Optiply Help Center (search_help_articles): searches the public articles using the Help Center ranking. If there are no matches, it can retry with fewer words, except for topics the Help Center withholds. It returns up to 10 matches (5 by default), each with title, category, a short excerpt, the date the article was last reviewed and its URL.
  • Read an Optiply Help Center article (get_help_article): returns the full text of one article, by the short name (slug) that the search returned.

Both tools only read. They can't change anything in the Help Center or in Optiply.

Expected result

After you add the connector, the assistant lists the two Help Center tools, and answers to Optiply questions include links to help.optiply.com articles.

Limitations

  • The connector only contains the public Help Center articles, in English. Articles that the Help Center doesn't publish are not available through it either.
  • It doesn't see your Optiply account, data or settings. For that, use the Optiply Agent connector.
  • The articles update with the Help Center itself. An assistant may still mix in its own knowledge, so check the cited article when the answer matters.

Errors and recovery

  • The assistant doesn't use the connector: make sure the connector is turned on for the conversation, then ask it to "search the Optiply Help Center".
  • The connector fails to add or asks for a sign-in: check that the URL is exactly https://help.optiply.com/mcp and that authentication is set to none. Opening the URL in a browser shows a short error. That is expected: this endpoint accepts MCP POST requests, not ordinary browser page requests.
  • No results: for an ordinary no-match response, use fewer, more specific words, for example "supplier lead time" instead of a full sentence. If the connector says the public Help Center does not cover the topic, do not keep rephrasing to bypass that limit; ask the Optiply Agent if you have access, or contact Support.
  • Still not working: contact Optiply Support.
