📥 Import: Promotions
If you are running major seasonal campaigns—like Black Friday or a Summer Clearance—setting up promotions and adding products one by one is simply not efficient.
To save time, Optiply offers two ways to handle this in bulk: you can use the Dashboard Import to add products to a single promotion you just created, or you can use the Support-Assisted Import to have our team generate multiple different promotions from a single master file.
⚠️ Premium Feature Note: The Promotions feature (including both the dashboard tool and the bulk import options) is unavailable in the Optiply Lite version. You must be on a standard or advanced tier to utilize these features.
🗂️ 1. The CSV File Structure
To import your promotions, your data must follow a strict structure. Make sure your .csv file contains the exact columns listed below.
Note: For a deeper dive into what these specific uplifts mean and how promotions are calculated, please check out our detailed Promotions Page.
💻 Method 1: The Dashboard Import (Adding to an Existing Promo)
If you have already created a specific promotion in your dashboard, you can easily upload a list of products directly into it. For this self-serve dashboard import, your file only needs 3 columns!
If your promotion is not created yet you will need to do so first here:
1. Prepare Your File:
Create a .csv or Excel file to map specific items to their unique uplifts.
skuCode | specificUpliftType | specificUpliftIncrease |
8714774010999 | relative | 10 |
8710552298498 | relative | 20 |
8710552299839 | absolute | 50 |
2. Execute the Import:
Go to the Promotions page and click Create promotion (or open an existing one).
Click the tab Products
and select Import products.
Choose your identifier (e.g., SKU code) and click Next.
4. Upload the file and click next (you also have the template available for download here)
5. Match your columns: Map your file headers to Optiply's system fields (SKU code, Uplift type, and Expected Uplift).
6. Click Next to run the error check, then click Import!
📥 Method 2: Support-Assisted Import (Creating Multiple Promos)
If you are running major campaigns and need to create multiple different promotions at once, you can skip the manual dashboard setup entirely. By providing a structured CSV file, our team can upload your expected sales uplifts directly into the system for you.
1. The CSV File Structure
Because this file creates the promotions from scratch, it requires more data than the dashboard import. Your .csv file must contain these exact 9 columns:
Column Header | Description |
name | The name you want to give to the promotion you are creating. |
skuCode | The specific SKU code is attributed to the product. |
eanCode | The EAN code is attributed to the product. |
start_date | The exact date you want your promotion to start (YYYY-MM-DD). |
end_date | The exact date you want your promotion to end (YYYY-MM-DD). |
upliftType | Enter absolute or relative. |
upliftIncrease | The default percentage/value you expect to increase overall sales. |
specificUpliftType | Enter absolute or relative for this specific product. |
specificUpliftIncrease | The specific percentage/value you expect to increase sales for this exact item. |

🏷️ Special Case: Close-Out Promotions
If your goal is to set up a close-out promotion to phase out stock entirely, the formatting is simpler. Enter close_out in both the upliftType and specificUpliftType columns. You can leave the rest of the uplift and percentage columns completely empty for those specific rows.
2. How to Submit Your File
Unlike standard product updates, bulk promotion imports are processed directly by our support team to ensure your sales forecasts are calculated flawlessly.
Format your data: Ensure your file is saved strictly as a
.csv(comma-separated values) file.Name your file: You must include the date of formatting in the file name (e.g.,
Promotions_2026-06-25.csv).Review and confirm: Double-check your dates and percentages for any typos.
Send it in: Email your completed file to support@optiply.nl or send it to us via the in-app chat message.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How long does it take for my support-assisted bulk promotions to appear in Optiply?
If this is a manual import handled by our team, please allow up to 24 hours for your multiple promotions to be processed and reflected in your dashboard.
If you choose to import from the dashboard, the time depends on the size of the file.
Do I need to fill out both the SKU and EAN codes in the support file?
No. It is best practice to provide the primary identifier your system uses to track the product. Make sure the codes you provide exactly match the product data already existing within your Optiply environment.
Why did my dashboard import fail during the 'Check for errors' stage?
If you get a red error warning before you can click Import in the dashboard, it usually means your file is missing the required identifier column (like a missing SKU header), or you have a formatting error in your data. Ensure there are no blank rows or corrupted characters in your .csv file.
