π How To: Create and Manage Promotions
Marketing campaigns and seasonal sales are great for business, but sudden spikes in demand can easily wipe out your stock if you aren't prepared.
Our Promotions functionality allows you to tell the system exactly when you expect to sell more (or less) due to a planned event. By inputting your expected uplift, Optiply proactively adjusts your forecasting and purchase advice so you have the right amount of stock ready when the campaign launches.
β οΈ Premium Feature Note: Promotions are an advanced feature that may incur extra costs and are currently unavailable in the Optiply Lite version. If you want to activate this feature, please contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) or email support@optiply.nl, and we'll be happy to set it up for you!
Here is how to create a promotion, apply it to your catalogue, and customise your uplifts.
π Step 1: Create a Promotion
First, you need to define the rules and timeframe of your campaign.
Navigate to the Promotions page from the top menu.
Click the Create Promotion button. A pop-up configuration window will appear.
Fill in the required fields:
Promotion Name: Give it a recognisable name (e.g., "Spring TV Commercial" or "Black Friday 2026").
Start Date & End Date: Define the exact active window of the promotion.
Uplift Type: Choose how the algorithm calculates the extra demand. You can select:
Absolute: Adds a specific number of units to the forecast during the timeframe.
Relative (%): Adds a specific percentage to your existing baseline forecast.
Close-out / No Uplift: Will not add any extra demand to your forecast.
Expected Uplift: Input the actual value (e.g., typing "20" on a Relative uplift means you expect to sell 20% more).
Enabled: You can disable a promotion while setting it up, and toggle it to "Enabled" later when you are ready for it to affect your purchase advice.
Apply to the entire webshop: Check this box if you want a store-wide sale. (Note: This adds all current products to the promotion. New products created after this moment will need to be added manually).
Click Save.
π¦ Step 2: Add Products to the Promotion
If you did not apply the promotion to your entire webshop, you need to manually connect the specific products that will be on sale.
Go to the Promotions page.
Select the promotion you just created from the dropdown menu or any other promotion you want.
βClick the Products tab.
Click Add Products.
βChoose the products you want to add
Click Add to promotion.
The products are now connected, and the general Expected Uplift you set in Step 1 will be applied to all of them!
π― Step 3: Set Product-Specific Uplifts (Optional)
Sometimes, a store-wide 20% uplift isn't accurate for every item. If you want to set a specific, unique uplift for a single top-seller, you can easily override the general promotion rules.
On the Products page, click on the specific product you want to adjust.
In the product details overlay, scroll down to the Promotions section and click Edit.
Fill in the Product Uplift.
Click Save.
Optiply will now use this specific Product Uplift for this item instead of the general promotion's default uplift.
β Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can I remove a product from a store-wide promotion?
Yes! Even if you checked the "Apply to entire webshop" box during creation, you can always go into an individual product's details and manually disconnect it from the active promotion.
What happens when the promotion ends?
Once the End Date passes, the system automatically drops the expected uplift and reverts to your standard, data-driven forecasting. You do not need to manually delete the promotion.
What is the point of a "No Uplift" or "Close-out" promotion?
These types are useful for tracking historical events or marking periods where you are actively liquidating stock without wanting the system to order more buffer inventory to support the clearance sale.
