When a new product replaces an existing product, it is nice if the data is also taken over.

There are 3 options for following up on the product and transferring its sales data to the new product.

Reuse an old product

One of the easiest ways to update a product is by reusing it. This means adapting the original product in the source system to fit the new product. To accomplish this, the name and SKU of the original product must be modified to match the new product. However, the old data is still retained in this process.

Create a new product

If it is not possible to implement the first option, a new product must be created in the source system. In order to transfer the data from the old product to the new one, we can use product compositions to identify the bundle associated with the old product. This will enable us to recognize the new product as the old one and attach the relevant data to it.

Create a predecessor product
