πŸŽ₯ Webinar #8 - Discover the Biggest Causes of Inefficient Inventory

Are you struggling with tied-up capital, overstock, or frequent stockouts? The root cause might be hiding right inside your data.

In this webinar, hosted by Customer Success Manager Albertine, we reveal what Optiply considers to be one of the biggest causes of inefficient inventory. You will learn in detail how the quality of your underlying data directly affects the algorithm's behaviour, how to spot warning signs, and exactly what steps you need to take to correct your settings for optimal purchasing.

🌍 1. How to Add Translated Subtitles

Because this webinar was originally recorded in Dutch, you can easily use YouTube's auto-translate feature to watch the session with English subtitles (or any other language you prefer!).

To turn on translations:

  1. Open the video and click the CC (Closed Captions) icon on the bottom right of the video player to turn on subtitles.

  2. Click the Settings (Gear) icon right next to it.

  3. Select Subtitles/CC, and then click Auto-translate.

  4. Choose your preferred language from the dropdown list.

That's it! You can now watch the session comfortably in your desired language.

πŸ›‘ 2. Key Takeaways: Fixing Your Data

If you are short on time, here is a quick recap of the core data hygiene strategies Albertine discusses to help you clean up your inventory management:

Takeaway 1: "Garbage In, Garbage Out"

Optiply is a purely data-driven tool. If your source system (your webshop or ERP) is feeding Optiply inaccurate current stock levels or incorrect sales histories, the purchasing advice will always be wrong. Ensuring your foundation is accurate is step one to efficient inventory.

Takeaway 2: The Danger of Outdated Lead Times

One of the biggest causes of stockouts or overstock is an incorrect Lead Time setting. If a supplier's delivery takes 30 days, but your settings still say 14 days, Optiply will order too late. We discuss how to identify discrepancies between your Set Lead Time and your Average Lead Time.

Takeaway 3: Missing Supplier Constraints

If the algorithm doesn't know about a supplier's Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) or Lot Size, it will give you unrealistic order quantities that you constantly have to edit manually. Feeding this specific data into Optiply immediately increases your automation rate.

Takeaway 4: Proactive Data Hygiene

Don't wait for a stockout to realise your data is wrong! Learn how to proactively audit your catalogue and use Optiply's bulk Import/Export features to keep your supplier constraints, dimensions, and settings perfectly up to date.

❓ 3. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How often should I audit my data in Optiply?

Supply chains change constantly. We recommend doing a high-level review of your lead times, service levels, and supplier constraints at least once a quarter, or immediately whenever a supplier formally changes their terms.

Can I fix bad data in bulk?

Yes! You do not need to click through hundreds of products one by one. You can use Optiply's Imports/Exports feature to bulk update product weights, volumes, MOQs, and lead times via a simple CSV file.

Why is my purchase advice suddenly suggesting massive quantities?

This is almost always a data issue. It is typically caused by an unrecorded promotion (which artificially inflated your historical sales data) or an error in your ABC categorisation. Always check the underlying data tab for that product before ignoring the advice!
